Sandpoint to Dover Bike Ride

Sandpoint to Dover Bike Ride, June 30, 2013

Background

Our research has shown that there are just 3 directions to which you can go, if you are heading out from the hotel on a bicycle: south 10kms (to Sagle), north 2kms (to a dead end, slough, or construction area), or southwest 8kms (to Dover).

Stephen has ridden them all. In some cases, multiple times.

And now, today, I have ridden them all

The Geography

Here is the Google Earth view showing our biking track, going southwest to Dover and returning, and then going north to the dead end and back to the hotel. The ride was 18 kms in total. And (really nice), both legs were FLAT!

Lake views

On our trip to Dover, we came across this little lake, separated from Lake Pend Oreille by a road and the bike path. The little lake has ducks on it. The big lake doesn’t.

Dover is a pretty tiny town, but it does boast a Lakeshore Drive with some pretty nice houses.

In any event, we got to the dead end of Lakeshore Drive, and took a few more photos of Lake Pend Oreille.

After we got back to the hotel after the north leg, Stephen still had some energy to burn, so he pedalled off to Sagle again. I think that makes it 3 times he’s been to Sagle this week!

The Flora

Lots of flowers in bloom!
